Having trouble? Here are solutions to the most common issues users encounter.

Symptoms: Login fails, stuck on login screen, or redirected back to login.

Solutions:

  1. Check your credentials — Make sure email and password are correct
  2. Clear browser cache — Old session data can cause issues
  3. Try incognito mode — Rules out browser extensions
  4. Check email verification — Unverified emails can’t log in
  5. Reset password — If you’ve forgotten it, use the reset link

Symptoms: Google or Apple sign-in fails or loops.

Solutions:

  1. Check popup blockers — Social login uses popups
  2. Allow third-party cookies — Required for OAuth flow
  3. Try a different browser — Some privacy settings block OAuth
  4. Clear cookies — Then try again

Symptoms: Getting logged out unexpectedly.

Solutions:

  1. Check system time — Incorrect clock causes token issues
  2. Disable VPN temporarily — Some VPNs interfere with sessions
  3. Try signing out everywhere — Go to Settings → Security → Sign Out All Devices

Symptoms: Blank page, spinner that never stops, or error message.

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page — Simple but often works
  2. Check your connection — Make sure you’re online
  3. Try a different browser — Rule out browser-specific issues
  4. Clear cache — Old data can cause loading problems

Symptoms: Add button doesn’t work, or gifts don’t appear.

Solutions:

  1. Check you’re the owner — Only owners can add to a wishlist
  2. Check wishlist status — Archived wishlists can’t be edited
  3. Refresh after adding — Sometimes display lags behind

Symptoms: Pasting a URL doesn’t extract product info.

Solutions:

  1. Try a different URL — Product pages work better than search results
  2. Check URL accessibility — Must be publicly accessible (no login required)
  3. Use manual entry — Click “Add manually” to enter details yourself
  4. Try major retailers — Amazon, Target, Walmart have best support

Symptoms: Claim button disabled or claim fails.

Possible causes:

  1. Already claimed — Someone else claimed it first
  2. Your own wishlist — Can’t claim your own gifts
  3. Event ended — Event wishlists can’t be claimed after the event

Symptoms: A claim you made is no longer showing.

Possible causes:

  1. Gift was deleted — Owner removed the gift
  2. Wishlist was deleted — Entire wishlist was removed
  3. You unclaimed it — Check if you accidentally released it

Symptoms: Shopping list is empty or missing claims.

Solutions:

  1. Check filters — Make sure you’re not filtering out claims
  2. Check historical toggle — Past claims might be hidden
  3. Refresh the page — Claims might not have loaded

Symptoms: Recipients see “Access Denied” or blank page.

Possible causes:

  1. Link expired — Check if you set an expiration
  2. Link revoked — You may have revoked it
  3. Typo in URL — Have them copy the full link again

Solutions:

  1. Go to Manage Links on your wishlist
  2. Check the link’s status
  3. Create a new link if needed

Symptoms: You shared with a group but members don’t see it.

Solutions:

  1. Check sharing settings — Make sure the group is selected
  2. Confirm membership — Is the person actually in the group?
  3. Check join approval — Pending members can’t see wishlists

Symptoms: Invite link doesn’t work or join fails.

Possible causes:

  1. Link expired — Some invites have expiration
  2. Group closed — Admin may have changed join mode
  3. Already a member — You can’t rejoin a group you’re in

Symptoms: Expected emails aren’t arriving.

Solutions:

  1. Check spam folder — Emails might be filtered
  2. Verify email address — Unverified addresses don’t get emails
  3. Check email settings — You may have disabled emails
  4. Add to contacts — Whitelist noreply@giverr.app

Solutions:

  1. Go to SettingsNotifications
  2. Disable unwanted notification types
  3. Switch to digest mode instead of instant
  4. Enable quiet hours

Symptoms: Layout issues, missing images, or garbled text.

Solutions:

  1. Hard refresh — Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  2. Clear browser cache — Old CSS/JS can cause issues
  3. Try different browser — Rule out browser-specific bugs
  4. Disable extensions — Ad blockers can interfere

Symptoms: Colors wrong, text hard to read.

Solutions:

  1. Check theme setting — Settings → Preferences → Theme
  2. Check system setting — If set to “System”, check OS dark mode
  3. Hard refresh — Theme might not have updated
