Common Issues
Having trouble? Here are solutions to the most common issues users encounter.
Login Problems
Section titled “Login Problems”Can’t Sign In
Section titled “Can’t Sign In”Symptoms: Login fails, stuck on login screen, or redirected back to login.
Solutions:
- Check your credentials — Make sure email and password are correct
- Clear browser cache — Old session data can cause issues
- Try incognito mode — Rules out browser extensions
- Check email verification — Unverified emails can’t log in
- Reset password — If you’ve forgotten it, use the reset link
Social Login Not Working
Section titled “Social Login Not Working”Symptoms: Google or Apple sign-in fails or loops.
Solutions:
- Check popup blockers — Social login uses popups
- Allow third-party cookies — Required for OAuth flow
- Try a different browser — Some privacy settings block OAuth
- Clear cookies — Then try again
”Session Expired” Errors
Section titled “”Session Expired” Errors”Symptoms: Getting logged out unexpectedly.
Solutions:
- Check system time — Incorrect clock causes token issues
- Disable VPN temporarily — Some VPNs interfere with sessions
- Try signing out everywhere — Go to Settings → Security → Sign Out All Devices
Wishlist Issues
Section titled “Wishlist Issues”Wishlist Not Loading
Section titled “Wishlist Not Loading”Symptoms: Blank page, spinner that never stops, or error message.
Solutions:
- Refresh the page — Simple but often works
- Check your connection — Make sure you’re online
- Try a different browser — Rule out browser-specific issues
- Clear cache — Old data can cause loading problems
Can’t Add Gifts
Section titled “Can’t Add Gifts”Symptoms: Add button doesn’t work, or gifts don’t appear.
Solutions:
- Check you’re the owner — Only owners can add to a wishlist
- Check wishlist status — Archived wishlists can’t be edited
- Refresh after adding — Sometimes display lags behind
URL Extraction Failed
Section titled “URL Extraction Failed”Symptoms: Pasting a URL doesn’t extract product info.
Solutions:
- Try a different URL — Product pages work better than search results
- Check URL accessibility — Must be publicly accessible (no login required)
- Use manual entry — Click “Add manually” to enter details yourself
- Try major retailers — Amazon, Target, Walmart have best support
Claiming Issues
Section titled “Claiming Issues”Can’t Claim a Gift
Section titled “Can’t Claim a Gift”Symptoms: Claim button disabled or claim fails.
Possible causes:
- Already claimed — Someone else claimed it first
- Your own wishlist — Can’t claim your own gifts
- Event ended — Event wishlists can’t be claimed after the event
Claim Disappeared
Section titled “Claim Disappeared”Symptoms: A claim you made is no longer showing.
Possible causes:
- Gift was deleted — Owner removed the gift
- Wishlist was deleted — Entire wishlist was removed
- You unclaimed it — Check if you accidentally released it
Can’t See My Claims
Section titled “Can’t See My Claims”Symptoms: Shopping list is empty or missing claims.
Solutions:
- Check filters — Make sure you’re not filtering out claims
- Check historical toggle — Past claims might be hidden
- Refresh the page — Claims might not have loaded
Sharing Issues
Section titled “Sharing Issues”Share Link Not Working
Section titled “Share Link Not Working”Symptoms: Recipients see “Access Denied” or blank page.
Possible causes:
- Link expired — Check if you set an expiration
- Link revoked — You may have revoked it
- Typo in URL — Have them copy the full link again
Solutions:
- Go to Manage Links on your wishlist
- Check the link’s status
- Create a new link if needed
Group Members Can’t See Wishlist
Section titled “Group Members Can’t See Wishlist”Symptoms: You shared with a group but members don’t see it.
Solutions:
- Check sharing settings — Make sure the group is selected
- Confirm membership — Is the person actually in the group?
- Check join approval — Pending members can’t see wishlists
Can’t Join Gift Group
Section titled “Can’t Join Gift Group”Symptoms: Invite link doesn’t work or join fails.
Possible causes:
- Link expired — Some invites have expiration
- Group closed — Admin may have changed join mode
- Already a member — You can’t rejoin a group you’re in
Notification Issues
Section titled “Notification Issues”Not Receiving Emails
Section titled “Not Receiving Emails”Symptoms: Expected emails aren’t arriving.
Solutions:
- Check spam folder — Emails might be filtered
- Verify email address — Unverified addresses don’t get emails
- Check email settings — You may have disabled emails
- Add to contacts — Whitelist noreply@giverr.app
Too Many Notifications
Section titled “Too Many Notifications”Solutions:
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Disable unwanted notification types
- Switch to digest mode instead of instant
- Enable quiet hours
Display Issues
Section titled “Display Issues”Page Looks Broken
Section titled “Page Looks Broken”Symptoms: Layout issues, missing images, or garbled text.
Solutions:
- Hard refresh — Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
- Clear browser cache — Old CSS/JS can cause issues
- Try different browser — Rule out browser-specific bugs
- Disable extensions — Ad blockers can interfere
Dark Mode Issues
Section titled “Dark Mode Issues”Symptoms: Colors wrong, text hard to read.
Solutions:
- Check theme setting — Settings → Preferences → Theme
- Check system setting — If set to “System”, check OS dark mode
- Hard refresh — Theme might not have updated
